Objective

To ensure that all contractors, engaged by the MSRDC for construction of the highway, implement the requisite processes and procedures for HSE. 

The workshop involved orienting the participants on – 

  • Relevant rules, regulations and notifications issued by the government under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, Buildings and Other Construction Workers (Regulations of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996 and Explosives Rules, 1983. 
  • Potential hazards and how to prevent them, thereby  reducing the risk of accidents and injuries in the workplace, enabling better risk management and crisis management in emergency situations
  • Advantages such as cost savings due to fewer accidents and injuries, improved efficiency, increased productivity and positive brand image
  • Presentation of best practices already being implemented by some of the participating contractors

Conclusion

As a result of the workshop all the contractors were made aware of the HSE requirements of the MSRDC and better compliance, with lesser accidents and injuries was achieved.
