On-site Training for Environmental Compliance for the Nagpur-Mumbai Maha-Samruddhi Mahamarg

Objective

To promote ground-level compliance of the environmental, forest and wildlife regulations and facilitate accurate data collection and reporting for the biannual environment compliance reports submitted to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) by – 

  • Conducting site visits to interact with site staff and workers
  • Orientation on relevant environmental rules, regulations and notifications issued by the government, 
  • Orientation on the conditions prescribed in the Environmental Clearances and Forest Clearances obtained by the MSRDC towards this project
  • Conditions prescribed by the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) towards this project
  • Guidance for preparation of Environment Management Plans (EMP) 
  • Guidance for conducting periodic environment monitoring and 
  • Guidance for periodic reporting of environmental monitoring data and forest and wildlife conservation practices

Conclusion

As a result of these site-level orientation programmes, the MSRDC was able to receive regular detailed EMPs and environmental compliance and monitoring reports from its contractors and ensure timely bi-annual submission to the MoEFCC and SEAC.
