Included officials from the MSRDC, NEERI, and EPC contractors responsible for the construction of the highway

Objective

To ensure compliance of all environmental rules and regulation during the construction phase of the highway by orienting the participants on –

  • The relevant environmental rules, regulations and notifications issued by the government,
    conditions prescribed by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) in the Environmental Clearances and Forest Clearances obtained by the MSRDC towards this project
  • Conditions prescribed by the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) towards this project
  • Format for preparation of Environment Management Plans (EMP) by each contractor
  • Requirements for conducting periodic environment monitoring by each contractor and
  • Process for periodic reporting of environmental monitoring data and forest and wildlife conservation practices

Conclusion

As a result of this workshop MSRDC was able to receive detailed EMPs from its contractors and ensure timely bi-annual submission of environment compliance reports to the MoEFCC and SEAC
